Race Completed

The 2007 Race 4 A Wish has been completed, and the event was a huge success, and a ton of fun for everyone involved.  We had a wide variety of cars entered, from a 2002 Z06, a 1999 LS1 Trans Am, to a 67 Pro Touring RS/SS, to a “real” Vintage racer 65 Shelby GT350, to the event winner, a Dodge Colt, owned by Matt Step.  Yes, you read that right, a Dodge Colt!  Matt had a really interesting car that used a mildly modified Mitsubishi 2.0L engine, turbocharged and intercooled.  The car did everything well, and Matt also had a lot of seat time at different venues, having competed in the 2007 Grass Roots Motorsports challenge.  The “little ball of hate” as I aptly named it, would proceed to run 12.80’s on radials on a hot, humid, day, also turn 1.12 lap times at Beaverun, and lastly, run a 42.9 in the autocross to finish first, first, and third respectively.  Matt definitely had his hand full driving the car, as it makes enough power to sneak into the 10’s in the quarter mile on slicks.  Huge props to Matt for showing how to build a wicked fast car on a budget!

Jim Curtis:  Thompson DragWay

Krystal Barry:  BeaveRun Race Track

John Tokar:  Website updates

Eric and Tina Heller:  ASCC and NORA President.  Eric showed up at the Autocross and setup an awesome course, while showing us all how to driveJ.  Thanks to Eric and all the folks he brought with him for racing and working with us!!

ALL OF THE EVENT SPONSORS:  WITHOUT THE SPONSORS, THE EVENT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE.  WE RAISED $1900 FOR THE MAKE A WISH ORGANIZATION, WHICH WAS A GREAT START FOR A FIRST YEAR EVENT!  I CANNOT EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP WITH THIS EVENT!

HUGE THANKS ALSO TO WISECO PISTON AND BUSCHUR RACING FOR THEIR SUPPORT DURING THE EVENT.  BRIAN NUTTER AND DAVID BUSCHUR ARE TWO OF THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER MEET, AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP SEVERAL PEOPLE AT THE EVENT (DAVID TUNED THE FULLER MOTORSPORTS EVO AT THE EVENT AND GOT IT ON THE RIGHT TRACK!)

Again, thanks to everyone that helped, contributed, and participated at the event.  The attendants got a “ton” of track time (I did 7-8 20 minute sessions), and the event overall was great.  More importantly, we were able to have fun with our hobbies, while helping out a great cause, the Make A Wish Organization.  If you have any questions or comments, or suggestions for 2008 please drop us a note.  Thanks again and keep it under 150!

Awesome time!
